Tackling cost of living involves reducing the existing financial burden on the residents. Madhuri Azad advocates for:

- Freezing property tax and further providing relief to help households manage rising expenses. 

- Freezing community center programming fees for seniors and youth.

-Securing the Scarborough location for Toronto's upcoming non-profit public grocery store to introduce local competition and lower food costs. 

Creating Local Economic Opportunities: On-Demand Community Shuttles

This is to create new economic opportunities, increase monetary flow within our neighborhoods, and resolve existing community issues by strengthening our transit system.

The platform proposes a city-run, on-demand public transit shuttle service tailored specifically to fix Ward 22's first-and-last mile transit gaps. Further, by seamlessly connecting our neighborhoods directly to major local transit hubs like the ‘Agincourt GO’ and ‘Milliken Go’ Stations (with a vision to expand its connections south to ‘Kennedy Station’), this initiative proposes to:

- Streamline transit connections and expedite our transit services;

- Reduce gridlock on our roads on our neighborhood roads;

- Ease Parking Strains across residential streets;

- Reliable daily commute that promotes real economic growth for Scarborough workers.

- Create more economic opportunities, and increase the direct flow of money within our neighbourhoods.

This platform also considers the importance of less investment, and more revenue generation to reduce Tax burdens on the residents while resolving multiple issues. 

 This involves advocating to increase the supply of economic housing, cutting bureaucratic red tape, and fast-track approvals for "Missing Middle" housing—such as townhomes and mid-rises. This can speed up affordable housing construction while strictly protecting our suburban neighborhood character.
